Peter was born 10 Aug 1846 in Messina, Sicily, Italy.[1] His parents were Antony Ali and Erena Pagano.[2]
Peter came to the United States at the age of 14.[3][1] For 3 years he was bandmaster in the Brooklyn Navy Yards[1] and for 17 years he was the organist at the Talmage Tabernacle in New York and was a well-known professor of music.[3][1]
Peter age 18, born in Messina, Sicily and living in New York, New York, enlisted in the Union Army as a musician in the 12th Infantry, United States Army on 27 Aug 1861 in for 3 years. He was discharged 17 Aug 1864 at expiration of service. [4]The 12th Infantry was organized 20 Oct 1861 at Fort Hamilton in New York. The regiment saw extensive combat during the war, including the Battles of Gaines’ Mill, Antietam, Fredericksburg, and Gettysburg.[5]
Peter married Louisa Parker (born in England) on 15 Jan 1868 in Kings, New York, United States.[2]
In 1880, Peter (34, born in Italy), wife Louisa (30, born in England) and son Walter (7, born in New York) were living in Brooklyn, Kings, New York, United States. Peter was a music professor.[6]
By 1900, Peter (50) was widowed and a lodger in the home of Hugh E Rose in Brooklyn, New York.[7]
Peter is surived by 1 son, Walter L. Ali of Pasadena, California.[3]
