Biography

Rosa (Alexander) Puckett is a part of US Black heritage.

Rosa was born on November 18, 1868, in San Francisco, California. She is the daughter of William Alexander and Bertha Deenbar.^[1]

In 1870, one-year-old Rosa was the only child in the home of William and Bertha Alexander. The family was living in San Francisco where her father was working as a waiter in a boarding house.^[2] She would remain at home and in 1880 was attending school. The family was living on Pacific Street and her father was a porter.^[3]

In 1900 Bertha was working as a ladies maid. She was living with her parents on Buttie Street in San Francisco. ^[4]

By 1910 Rosa Puckett is shown as a widow and living in Oakland with her two children, Charles (6) and Irma (4). Also in residence was her father, William, now 64 years old. ^[5]

In 1930 Rosa was living in the home of her married son, Charles Puckett, on California Street in Berkley, California.^[6]

In 1940 Rosa was living in the home of her married daughter, Irma Robinson, in Oakland^[7] She would remain with Irma, now a widow, when they relocated to Berkley by 1950.^[8]

Rosa Louise Puckett died on January 10, 1858, in Alameda County.^[9]
