my name is Cristina Corbellani and I’m Team Leader for the Italian Diaspora section of the Italy project on Wikitree. You are receiving this email because you expressed an interest in the Italian Diaspora. The aim of this part of the project is to identify the migrant Italians to connect their families of origin in Italy with their descendants abroad. We have specific resources for this purpose which are explicited here: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Italian_Roots_Diaspora. If you are new to Italian genealogy or are not familiar on how to trace a migrant ancestor, I’d like to invite you to join us the next September 30th to October 2nd. On those dates we will doing the Source-a-Thon as Team Italy, a friendly competition in which we locate sources for as many unsourced profiles as we can over an extended weekend. But the important thing is that, whether you join the competition officially or not, or if you are joining another team (which you can do here if you like: https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/1463120/register-now-for-the-2022-source-a-thon ), if you drop by on the #Italy channel on Discord you’ll find almost always during those days someone ready to help you with your research, translations or resources websites. Or you can just drop by to say hello! We always have great fun during these events. Hoping to hear back from you soon, best regards, Cristina.
This is Chris from the Italy Project. As part of the annual project check-in, can you fill in the project survey? This will let us know that you are still interested in the project and which teams you'd like to participate in.
Thanks and have a great day!
I just connected your branch to the Main Tree. Long overdue! See e.g., your connection path to HM Queen Elizabeth II ... among 26 million more. https://www.wikitree.com/index.php?title=Special:Connection&action=connect&person1Name=Albasini-30&person2Name=Windsor-1
Thanks for your contributions on WikiTree!
However, creating pre-1700 profiles require better sources than a link to an online tree, that is stated in the pre-1700 quiz; https://www.wikitree.com/quiz/pre_1700
You can also check the help page for pre-1700 profiles https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Pre-1700_Profiles in order to better understand why proper sourcing of pre-1700 profiles are important.
Thanks for all your work on WikiTree. I noticed that you have been creating profiles for a pre-1700 ancestor with a note that you will add sources later.
The Pre-1700 Profile help page and the Pre-1700 Quiz you took last month explain the sourcing needed for pre-1700 profiles. Those sources need to be added at the time you create the profile. Please stop adding new profiles until the existing profile which you manage have been sourced.
Thanks,
Debi
Thank you for self-certifying for the Pre-1700 badge! Collaboration with Pre-1700 Project members is essential for those wishing to edit Pre-1700 profiles because those ancestors are usually shared by many descendants.
It looks like the Italy Project would be a good fit based on your branch of WikiTree. Review the project page to learn about resources and guidelines as well as how to collaborate with the project members.
Do you have any questions? Let me know. I'm happy to help! :-)
