25 Nov 1767. Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland. ^[1] Per the baptism record, actual town could be Loudoun or Darvel... Mother's name is given as "Martha Brown".

Isobel Anderson and John Aiton were married, probably about 1792, based on birth of first child.

According to William Aiton,^[2] Isobel and John had the following children:

Census and birth records confirm most of these names and dates.

In the 1841 Scotland census, John and Isabel, both 70 years old and John as a wool hand loom weaver, live in Darvel with children John, 40 cotton hand loom weaver, Jean, 35 cotton hand loom weaver, William, 35 cotton hand loom weaver, and a child, Jean 12 (grandchild?).^[5]
