William Aitchison was born on 1 November 1827 in Saltoun, Haddingtonshire, Scotland, United Kingdom, son of George Aitchison (1804–1876) and Agnes Clazie (1803–1883)[1].
William died on 5 July 1865 in Longformacus, Berwickshire, Scotland, aged 37[3]. He was buried in Abbey St. Bathans Parish Churchyard, Abbey Saint Bathans, Scottish Borders.[4]
