Biography

Mariah lived in Abbeville County, South Carolina, and was enslaved by Samuel Agnew.

Samuel Agnew died in 1844 and his probate inventory valued Mariah, in bad health, at $5. It is possible she was very old.[1]

Mariah was sold Nov 19-21, 1845 to Samuel's widow, Malinda Agnew.[2]

In 1851 Malinda Agnew died. Mariah was listed in Malinda's probate inventory and sale, valued at $5.[3] There was no listing as to who she had been sold to or a value. She may have been deceased by this time.
