Career
"He was a leader in the Democratic party and twice was elected by it to the State Senate.
His terms were from 1912 to 1915 and from 1932 to 1936.
While there he sponsored the bill that created the present Fish and Game Commission and was co-author of the original Compensation Act and
supported the University of Colorado.

Mr. Affolter was one of the organizers of the Louisville-La-fayette Coal Co.
Mr. Affolter was a member of the Knights of Pythias for 44 years;
was President of the Colorado Conservation Association in 1937-38. .............."
