[12] Gritie's sister, Neeltie Aertsen, stated on her marriage record that she was from Achtien Hooven [13] and on Gritie's marriage record [4] stated that she was from Vytrecht. No records identifying the family with Wageningen are to be found until we get to Aert Jacobsen's grandchildren.

    Wife shall possess the entire estate. If she should happen to marry one half thereof is to go to the children. At her death, the entire estate to go to the children. Also everything in Holland with the testator;s father, Coenraedts Elmendorf, living at Rynborch in the Rynstaet in the Gilded Cable ( vergule Cabeltouw), vis. 450 gilders, belonging to the testator, and his two brothers and two sister, children of a former marriage of Conraedt Elmendorp, deceased, and Janneken, their mother, before the distribution to the orther children. To wife also everything else he may inherit--Gomert Pouussen authorized to receive the money in Holland, and to pay it to testator's wife, in whatever money it may consist of. Signed by the testator and witnessed by Dirck Schepmoes and Joost Adryaens.

    Book of Deeds, Liber I, page 221. Jacobus Van Elmendorp, will dated 1685 Aug 27 and writen in Dutch.
    His wife shall have the whole estate for life, if unmarried. If she should marry, only one half of the property, the other half to go to the children; Coenraedt, Gertie, Anna, Jacobus, Jenneke, Tekla, and after her death, all to go to the children.
    My son Coenraedt shall have my land called Wassemaker's land, with the 4,000 schepels of wheat, and if his inheritance should not be large enough, my wife may dispose of sufficient for the purpose, except that all what is over 1,000 schepel of wheat shall belong to her.
    My paternal inheritance in the old country shall be equally divided, but my youngest daughter, called Tekela, shall have, in advance, 100 hollandish gulden.
    If Coenraedt shoud die without issue, his brother Jacobus shall have the same interest in this will as Coenraedt. Signed Jacobus Van Elmendorp & Grietien Elmendorp.

    1699 Nov 30 Will proved by John Hendrix of Kingston before Justices of the peace: John Ward and John Herrmans.     On this day, the 24th of January 1663, Theunis Dircxsz van Vechten acknowledges that he is well and truly indebted to Aert Jacobsz van Achtienhoven in the sum of seventy-seven guilders in beavers, growing out of the matter of the balance of purchase money for a house, fences and out buildings upon the land called Groenendal, lyin (at the south end where the descent is toward the island of Paepskene), in the Greyne bos in the colony of Rensselaerswyck, which said sum he, Theunis Dircxsz van Vechten, hereby promises to pay in the month of June next in good, merchantable beavers at eight guilders each; for which he minds his person and estate, nothing excepted, subject to the authority of all courts and judges. Done in the colony of Rensselaerswyck, dated as above.

Biographical Historical Note Nicholas Elmendorf is a descendant of Jacobus van Elmendorf who resided in Kingston as early as 1667. On April 25, 1667 he married Grietje, daughter of Aert Jacobsen van Wagonen. They had four children; Coenraedt, Geertje, Anna and Jacobus.
