Biography
Alwven was born about 1859 (based on shipping record). He was the son of Gustav Wilhelm Adolph and Charlotte (Meintz?). He arrived in New Zealand as a 6 year old on the Eveline in 1865.
Jemima Watson and Alween Adolph married in 1882 in New Zealand [1].
Jessie and Alwven had the following children:

- Florence Jemima (Adolph) Pope (1884-1956)
- Reynold John Adolph (1885-1941)
- Herman Alfred Benart Adolph (1896-1969)
- Adelaide Kate (Adolph) Bowden (1888-1979)

Alwven died in 1949 in New Zealand [4]. He is buried in the Papakura Cemetery.[5]

Find A Grave gives his date of birth as 28 Jul 1857 and his birthplace as Sachsen-Anhalt, Germany. FamilySearch[6] gives his birthplace as Sommerfeld, Krossen, Brandenburg, Prussia, Germany with the same birthdate. Both give his full name (not used in New Zealand) as Ferdinand Theodor Alwin Adolph.
