Hi Stephen,

I wrote to you recently as part of the England Project's annual check-in with our project members. I haven't heard back from you. I hope you are well.

If you could please drop me a quick note to confirm whether you are still interested in the project and wish to remain an active member, that would be very helpful.

If we don't hear from you within the next 2 weeks, we will assume you are no longer active in the England Project and remove you from our list of project members. You would be most welcome to re-apply to join the project at a later time by signing-up on the project’s G2G welcome post.

Many thanks!

Ian, England Project Leader

Hi Stephen,

Thank you for being part of the England Project! We are pleased you decided to join us and hope you find the Orphan Trail rewarding.

The England Project Leaders like to touch base with each of our members periodically to make sure everything is going well. This is our annual check-in.

Are you happy to remain on the Orphan Trail? We would be interested in your perspective on the Orphan Trail whatever stage you are at -- whether on the road to completion or taking a short break.

We would also be interested to hear whether you're finding the explanations and guidance in the Orphan Trail pages useful. No more than a couple of sentences would be enough. We are always looking to improve and feedback plays an important part.

I look forward to hearing from you. Please respond by posting a reply below or sending me a private message.

On behalf of all the Leaders, thank you again. We look forward to your completion of the Orphan Trail and your continued involvement in our collaborative and fun project!

Kind regards,

Ian, England Project Leader

I was planning on using the Thon to test the first release of the Wikitree Browser Extension for Safari on my iOS iPad. In the end I finally got it installed late on Friday, and never gained my momentum.

Hi Stephen

We are sorry you were unable to join us this weekend, we hope all is well with you. The grand total for the event was 76,995 profiles created. The Mighty Oaks contributed 6,258 of those.

We hope to see you for the next Thon in July

Joan, Janet, Maddy and Fran

It's time for the One Place Studies Project Check-In!

We've put together a survey for you to fill out to check in with you, it will only take a moment as there are only a few questions. Filling out the survey lets us know you are still interested in coordinating your study and provides an opportunity for you to share any suggestions you may have for the project.

If you have decided to step away from your study, please reply to this comment to that effect.

Dear Stephen,

We hope you are enjoying your time in the Orphan Trail Team; even if you are currently taking a Pause or waiting to be buddied up with a Trailblazer. We are pleased that you decided to join us and on behalf of the England Project, I would like to thank you for all your contributions towards the project's goals. Every single contribution you make helps improve English profiles!

We are looking forward to you joining one of our other collaborative and energetic teams once you complete the Trail.

I'd also like to share our annual Newsletter with you. You can read it here: England Project Newsletters. We hope you enjoy reading a bit about what has gone on in 2022 and what our Project has achieved.

The England Project Leaders like to touch base with each of our members every 6 months just to make sure everything is going well. There's no need to reply to this message unless you have something you'd like to let us know about (e.g. if you would like to provide us with feedback about the Trail or the project). We will be in touch with you again in the middle of next year when we do our annual check-in with project members.

On behalf of all the Leaders, I wish you a peaceful and productive 2023.

Best wishes,

Susie, England Project Leader

Hi!

This is Chris from the Italy Project. As part of the annual project check-in, can you fill in the project survey? This will let us know that you are still interested in the project and which teams you'd like to participate in.

Thanks and have a great day!

Stephen,

Thank you for contributing to the February 2022 Sourcerers Challenge! As you know, every source added improves our One Tree. Thank you for taking time from your personal research to help others.

Hi Steve, you have a red incorrect category on your profile, this is because the category does not exist, and needs to be removed from the profile. To start a One Name Study, you need to go through the One Name Studies Project to get it started.

Thanks, Margaret, Categorization project volunteer

Thanks, I will contact the project to start an ADEY ONS, and have commented out the template for now, as I only added it as a place holder while I waited for a reply. Yesterday, I commented on a recent answer by Natalie Trott, to an ONS question, to ask if it was possible to use the Category Adey Name Study before the Name Study exists. It seems that the answer is no, so I have wrapped it in nowiki tags. Is that enough, or do I need to remove the square brackets completely to keep the category processing happy?

Thanks for your reply Steve, and for removing the red category. As long as it's not showing as a red category on a profile, it wont come up on our category error list.

The ONS project will set up the ONS study and category for you. Then you'll be good to go.

Margaret

Hello Steve,

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

Welcome Stephen,

We are so happy you have upgraded to the Family Member level.

Please visit our tutorial pages to learn how to use WikiTree: How To Use WikiTree. They will save you time, energy, and frustration as you add your family profiles.

Exploring the site is the best way to learn. One way to do that is to check out the drop-down menus on the top right side of your profile page. Finding a known ancestor and collaborating with the profile manager is another great way to start.

Questions? You can always use the G2G link in the Help Menu to find answers.

Virginia,

I am trying to understand what to do when I find a profile (Adey-190) for someone with the same surname, who is living in the same area of {England|Hampshire} as one of my ancestors (Adey-187). They are quite likely to be distantly related in some way and I would like to know the best way in WikiTree of keeping track of a possible connection to my tree. Thanks Steve

There are transcriptions for Hampshire available online but not images for the parishes in the New Forest.

Ancestry are going to scan them but it could be a while before they are available.

I am currently the England Project team leader for Hampshire and will help if I can.

Hi Hilary,

just to let you know that Melanie Paul helped me by connecting William & James, two sons of my oldest known Adey ancestor. I have started the Profile Improvements Voyage this year, and my two selected profiles are for James Adey-278 and his father William Adey-279. I did a prototype PIP for Nightingale-1706, while I was waiting to hear from the project. That has run into problems, as it needs merging with Nightingale-1655, and I have heard nothing back from the PM. I find it odd that I could just cut and paste all my contributions from 1706 to 1655, but I can't do a merge. However, I am personally in no hurry to work on that ancestral branch, as I have all my wife's ancestors to do.
