Able Seaman Chatham Royal Fleet Reserve, late Royal Navy. Born 8 Aug 1879^[1].Thomas's birth was registered in the Jul-Aug-Sep quarter of 1879 in the Chapel-en-le-frith district.^[2]

Son of Thomas Henry Hicks Adams and Catherine née Phillips^[1].

Entered the Navy in April 1897. Served on the H.M.S. "Aboukir".

On 18 Apr 1908 at Lancaster he married Mary Ellen, daughter of William Thomas Beattie. They had two sons: Thomas (b. 10 Jul 1910) and Harry (b. 29 Mar 1912).

He was killed in action on 22 Sep 1914 ("Aboukir" was sunk by the German submarine U-9 in North Sea) and commemorated at Chatham Naval Memorial.
