He was an Australian Rules football player who played with the Melbourne Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL).[2]
Ernie died on 28 November 1946 in Hampton, Victoria, aged 66 years.[2][3] He was laid to rest at the Springvale Botanical Cemetery, in Springvale, Victoria.[4]
