Reuben Hazen Adams was born on 9 July 1760, in Medway, Suffolk, Massachusetts Bay Colony, his father, Nathan Adams, was 36 and his mother, Keziah Thompson, was 29. He married Azuba Jones on 29 December 1780, in Norfolk, Massachusetts. They were the parents of at least 6 sons and 5 daughters. He lived in Quincy, Norfolk, Massachusetts, in 1833 and Lunenburg, Worcester, Massachusetts, in 1840. He died on 11 June 1848, in Westminster, Worcester, Massachusetts, at the age of 87.

Reuben served from Medway in the alarm on Rhode Island, from May to July 1777. He was a private in Col Jonathan Titcomb's 2nd Essex County Regiment, Capt. Ebenezer Battles. He was a young teen at the time.
