Charles Adair KCB RM is Notable.
Sir Charles WIlliam Adair KCB RMLI was the son of T.B Adair. He was born in 1822. [1] His baptism record dated the 15th of May 1822 at Plymouth in Devon, said that he was born on the 22nd of April 1822.[2][3]
In early 1849 Sir Charles married Isabella, the daughter of Colonel Thomas Aslett. [1][4] The couple's first child, Charles, was born in August 1849.
Sir Charles had a distinguished military career serving in Syria in 1840; the Crimea in 1855-1856; and Japan in 1862-1863. He was Knight of Medjidic and Aide-de-Campe to Queen Victoria from 1870-1878. Charles was Assistant Adjutant General of the Marines from 1870-1876 and Deputy Adjutant-General from 1878-1883.
In 1851 Sir Charles was living at Swanmore Place in Alverstoke, Hampshire, with his wife and son William. Sir Charles gave is occupation as "ieut & Adjt R M".[5]
In 1890 Sir Charles was said to be living at 12 Portland Terrace, Southsea (Portsmouth). [1]
Sir Charles passed away on the 27th of December 1897.[6][7] Probate was granted to his wife, Isabella.[8]
