ACOCELLA Guydon "Guy" Michael Acocella. "He never met a stranger." Born, November 4, 1925, Guy grew up in the "Bottoms" of West Side Columbus. He passed away peacefully on Monday, at the home he built and shared with his wife, Arlene, in Grove City. He was one of twelve children born to Jennie (Cook) and Angelo Acocella. After graduating from Columbus Central High School, Guy joined the Navy and proudly served in the Pacific Theater of WW II aboard the USS Dobbin. After the war, Guy went to work for the Davey Tree Company and as a stone mason, before settling into a thirty year career with White Castle Porcelain Steel. He was a member of numerous service clubs and organizations where he loved to spend Karaoke Nights crooning the standards of Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. His first love was people. Whether it was his family or today's new acquaintance, Guy, truly never met a stranger. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 48 years, Arlene. Survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and John Gaylord of Dublin; grandson, John Gaylord III; sister and brother-in-law, Rose and Fred Becker; brother, Louis Acocella, both of Grove City; and sister and brother-in-law, Collette and Robert Strickland of Columbus; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Friends may call Friday, April 1st, 2005 at the JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 W. 5th Avenue, from 4-8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 2nd, 2005 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 3730 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio. Entombment will follow at the St. Joseph Cemetery, 6440 South High Street, Lockbourne, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, friends who wish may contribute in memory of Guy, to the Mount Carmel Hospice, 799 W.
