Biography

William was born in 1807, the son of Samuel Ackroyd and Elizabeth Brewin. ^[1]

There is a record of a marriage in Quorn, Leicestershire, between William Ackroyd, son of Samuel Ackroyd of Quorndon, and Ann Kilby, daughter of John Kilby of Quorndon. This took place on 28 August 1838. ^[2] They were living in Barrow upon Soar, Leicestershire, at the time of the 1851 census ^[3]

On the other hand, a different William Ackroyd of Quorndon married Ann Orm of Quorndon in 1830 ^[4] and had children William (1832) and Mary Ann (1834) christened at the Wesleyan chapel on Leicester Road, Loughborough, Leicestershire in 1832. ^[5], ^[6]

It is by no means clear which of these Williams was the son of Samuel Ackroyd and Elizabeth Brewin.
