Biography

Salomon Abelse (a.k.a. Goeweij or Goewey) was born in Amsterdam in the Netherlands. He emigrated to New Netherland, where he was a carpenter in Beverwyck (later Albany, New York).^[1][2]

He married Barbara Philipse.^[3] They had at least six children: Sara, Philip, Jacob, Jan, David, and Lysbet.^[4]

He died in New Netherland some time before 27 June 1668 when his daughter Sara Salomonse (Goewey) made a filing with the court in Albany regarding an inheritance that she and her siblings had received from an uncle in the Netherlands.^[5]
