Biography
Jabez was born in 1807. Jabez Abell ... He passed away in 1866. Jabez enlisted in Union Army on 13 Aug. 1862, mustered 25 Aug. 1862 with 89th Illinois Regiment, Company I. He is listed on the roster as Jabez Abel, with one L, from Viola Twp., Lee County, IL He was discharged 27 Aug. 1863 due to disability. From Soldiers and Sailors of the Civil War Also in the 1860 census for Lee county he is listed as "James" Abell
