William Abel was born on the 4th of January 1900 at Nigg, Aberdeenshire. He was the son of William Abel and Wilhelmina Lamb.

William Abel married Isabella Urquhart on the 24th of June 1921 at New Deer, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.

William Abel passed away at Banff, Banffshire, Scotland in 1959.^[1]

• Email from Barbara.
• In the 1911 census, William Abel, age 11, Barbara Abel age 9 and Minnie Mary Abel age 7 all born Nigg KCD are with their maternal grandparents William Lamb and Barbara Knox at Cairncake Farm in Monquhitter.

In the 1901 census, William, age 23, a Labourer in an Ice Factory, b Maryculter, was living at 25 Victoria Rd in Torry Nigg Aberdeen with wife Minnie, age 25, b Monquhitter and son William b (cannot read age) b Nigg Torry KCD. . I am just not sure if this is William and Williamina Mary Lamb or not although it appears to be.

There was ONLY one William Abel born in Maryculter in the 1870-1880 time period in all of Scotland and that was one born in 1875 to Robert Abel and Martha Troup. I now have that birth record and I already had info on the family group - not one of mine.

I have looked at all MY records for any William Abel who was a butcher. (1899 marr record of William marrying Williamina Lamb shows father William, m to Annie Philip, was a Butcher and deceased.)

A William Abel b 1859 in Skene d 1920 in Garlogie married to Ann Rae Stuart (ruled him out because he was not deceased in 1899.

I have spent too much trying to track down this Ann Philip and William Abel...have a couple of marriages of Ann Philip to a John Davidson but there is no mention of a previous marriage to a Wm Abel.

Anyway, thought I would pass along what information I have David and you use, OR not use, whatever you want. I do not want to spend any more on trying to track his one down I hate giving up so I will just say I have placed this William on the shelf for the time being...sounds better. I am thinking he is NOT one of mine.
