John William Allsop was born on 7 January 1914 in Richmond, Victoria, Australia, the son of Agnes (Kennedy) Allsop and Charles Henry Allsop.[1]
He was educated at Essendon State School, then Essendon High School, before going to University of Melbourne.[2]
He married Eva Hayler on 11 December 1938 in England.[3][2]
A flight lieutenant in the British Royal Air Force, John was reported missing by the British Air Ministry in October 1939.[3]
