Roelof (possibly also recorded as Ruluff) was born in about 1738,,[1] probably in Litchfield County, Connecticut. He was a son of Christoffel de Duytser (also called Christopher Dutcher) and his wife, Gerty or Herty.
He is named as Relof "under 21," in his father's will, which was proved 15 September 1755. That will also mentions the testator's widow, and daughters “Joannekee” (Jannetje) and “Arkyonekee” (Angenietje), wife of Wm. Whitney of Salisbury. On 24 July, 1758 Christopher's widow and son Roelof signed an agreement related to the estate of Christopher’s father, Roelof.[2]
Griffin identifies him as the man who married Jane Ashley, the widow of Dr. William Bull, on 24 February 1762.[3]
Ruluff died on November 15, 1802, and is buried at Dutchers Bridge Burying Ground, Salisbury, Litchfield County, Connecticut.
