Emelia Bassano is Notable.

Emelia Bassano was born in January 1569. She is the daughter of Baptista Bassano and Margaret Johnson.[1]

"Emelia Baptist" was baptized 27 January 1568/9 at St. Botolph, Bishopsgate, London. [2]

Emilia Bassano married Alfonso Lanier, "one of her Majesties musicians," on 18 October 1592 at St. Botolph, Aldgate, in London. They were both living in the Minories at the time. [3] (Holy Trinity Minories was a parish just north of the Tower of London, and south of St. Botolph parish.) It was not a happy marriage but it lasted 21 years, until Alfonse died in 1613. Alfonse and Emelia had a son, Henry Lanier, a flutist trained by his uncle Andrea. [4]

Emillia Lanier, "pensioner," was buried 3 April 1645 at St. James, Clerkenwell. [5]

Children of Alfonso and Emilia:

  1. Henry Lanier. Buried 14 October 1633, St James, Clerkenwell. [6] His birth is often given as 1593 but the source for that date is not clear.
  2. Odillia Laniere, "daughter of Alphonso," baptized 2 December 1598, St. Margaret's Church, Westminster. [7] She died when she was ten months old and is buried at St. Botolph's, Bishopsgate, in London. [Source?]
