Who are the parents of Peter John Kremers (1868 - 1958)?

He was born in The Netherlands and immigrated as a young man to Oconto, Wisconsin where he married Matilda Theresa D'Hondt and had seven children with her.  Later they moved to Oregon where he passed away in 1958.  I have various sources from his time living in the USA.  Just no record of his parents names.

Hi Frank, thanks for the research but I don't think that one is a match because Peter John Kremers was born on Sept. 1, 1868 whereas the person you found was Christened on Jan 6th, 1868.  Too early in the year to be a match.

Hi everyone,

It is looking like his birth year may be 1867 afterall.  It was a death certificate that said 1868 and often times those can be slightly off on the facts.  Several census records list 1867 as a birth year.

I did find one Pedigree Resource File on family search that looks like it could match up, though it does not have Johan Peter Cramer listed as a son of Joannes Sibertus Cremers, it could still match up well.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, "Pedigree Resource File," database, FamilySearch(https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/2:2:36JS-942 : accessed 2017-12-25), entry for Joannes Sibertus/Cremers/.

The birth is a year off, but this Piet Kremers, born September 1, 1867 could be a possibility.

So going on the suggestion that his birth name was Piet Kremers born Sept 1st, 1867 shown here: https://www.wiewaswie.nl/en/detail/7689500

I found this other source that has lots more information:  http://www.zwiebelfam.nl/gendata/selten/pet17.htm#496

Also found this page: https://gw.geneanet.org/ghvandoorn?lang=nl&iz=3&p=thomas+jans&n=kremers

So I guess the main question at this point would be, Are there any records that show Piet Kremers born Sept 1st, 1867 left to the United States?

I have that he immigrated in either 1882, 1891 or 1893.

By Jan 1895 he was getting married in Oconto, WI to Matilda Theresa D'Hondt.

Thanks!

Found a 21.6 CM auDNA match on MyHeritage between my father and distant relative in The Netherlands going back to a MCRA of Johannes Thomassen Cremers (1742-1814).

This allows a reasonable assumption that the birth record for Piet Kremers, born 1 Sept., 1867 in Gassel, Noord-Brabant, Nederland to parents Peter Kremers and Johanna Kerkhof is for the same person, Peter Kremers, who immigrated to the United States in the 1880s or 1890s and lived in Wisconsin and Oregon and whose grave is located in the Mount Calvary Cemetery, Portland, Multnomah County, Oregon, USA.

Hi Erik,

I am not sure this is your question but I checked out the profile. You set Johanna Kerkhof as mother for Peter John.

Here is the birth doc of Johanna Kerkhof born 08-05-1825 in Oeffelt.

This might be the birth certificate of Piet Kremers son of Peter Kremers and Johanna Kerkhof, born 1867-09-01 (day and month same but 1 year difference) in Gassel Noord-Brabant, The Netherlands.  Parents fit. It that fits in your opinion as well - here are all brothers and sisters: Therus, Hendrina Petronella, Roselina, obvious Roselina passed away before 1862-10-26 as a second Roselina was born, a stillborn child, then your Piet, pronounced as Peet in English, is born. He seems to be the youngest and last one born. I love to find more if needed as I am not sure I anwer your question.

To all here if you have Dutch ancestors please feel very free to join us at the Dutch Roots Project (DRP). We are a bunch of I think pretty nice people that loves to help you and always looking for new members.

Here you can read how to join us. Don't feel shy, Dutch or of other languages we have our pages in two languages, dutch and english. And we can even help in a few other languages. All we ask is you abide at least the WT honour code of course and take the pre-1700 test.

Now I am not here just to promote our project I love so much! laugh

Most of all I hope I answered you question Erik. If not feel free to contact me please by my sending me a message via my profile

If  you search for Dutch anchestors born before 1811 please search at WieWasWie or in English WhoWasWho (you can set the page to English) it is free unless you like to have some extra features as searching on two names.

We have at the Dutch_Roots_Project a great page Jan Terink (co-leader at the DRP, and a very accurate worker at WT) made with reliable sources in The Netherlands. Of course Family Search gives lots of answers. But there are many regional search pages as well available. Please check out our pages.

Be aware we (crazy Dutch!  (Dutch is not from Germany!!) have a different way of adding names at WT for profiles born before 1811. Without explaining history at our country please be aware of the Dutch Roots Naming convention

Erik stay in touch please, I love to help you as much as I can.

Sweet regards from a very late The Netherlands.

A.

As it is very late here (or early even!)I took a fast look at one database for emmigrating people.

The only one that might fit is a J.P, Krämer (pronounced as Kremer). Left from Dordrecht and that in line of N.B. But people that loves to leave also left from France. So no proof.

If you check out the archive page you will find something like geaxxxknowhow. You will find out a link to passengers list. Be creative at Peters name. P. Piet, Pieter, Peet, Pieter etc. Being creative is the keyword on finding things. People were writing phonetical. So use your mouth and ears on how his name could have been spelled. I need bed otherwise I would have given it a go as I love this kind of puzzles.

Out now.
