Where do I look next regarding WWI?

Question

I am stuck on where to look next as to what happened to Herman James Bissell (1892-1917) . He was a US Marine, married to Hollie Smith (1893-?) and died May 22 1917 which is the same day of his discharged date from the Marines. Basically, 1) I am trying to find out what happened to him and where he might be buried. 2) Did he and his wife have a child.

I have tried tracking her via her parents and to see if she might have been living with them in 1920 Census. I know she could have re-married and they might have not had a child.

 Death Certificate No. 81--25440 dated August 3, 1981, was issued for Hallie Smith Bissell, who died on August 3, 1981, at Western State Hospital in Staunton, Virginia. She is reflected as born on May 28, 1892, the daughter of Harry Smith and Cherity Powell, and as the wife of Herman Bissell.

Maybe that's the wife?  Different names for the parents and different race?

I thank you for that info. I did find that record and I have dismissed it as being the correct person for two reasons: 1) Parents do not match the the marriage record of Herman James Bissell and Hollie Smith. Hollie's parents based on marriage record were Elsworth Smith and Carrie. 2) Race of white on marriage record for Hollie versus black on Hallie Bissell death certificate.

Side note: I did find another Herman Bissell but as his info didn't match my Herman Bissell I was looking for. I wish I has saved a record for him in my research notes. I am guessing without doing further research that Hallie was his wife.

I will keep looking.
