Hi. I would like to join the Nordic project and the Sweden and Norway sub projects. My maternal grandfather immigrated to America from Loga Flekkefjord Norway in 1920. My maternal great grandfather immigrated to America from Karlabo Älekulla parish in western Sweden in 1879, leaving behind a pregnant wife and three children with whom he lost contact after she passed away. Our families reconnected through DNA testing a few years ago, solving a 137-year mystery for the family he left behind in Sweden.

I am very interested in joining the project. I am Swedish and most of my family originates from Uppland, Södermanland and Åland (Finland). These areas are where I have done most of my research.

My maternal grandmother's paternal grandparents came from Stockholm to Boston in the 1880s, so I'd like to join the Sweden sub-project.  I've traced all of their ancestors back to the early 1700s and some even 100 years earlier than that.  I've done that using Riksarkivet and with help from the forums here.

I have been working on my Norwegian ancestry for many years.  My immediate ancestors (starting at great and gg grandparents on both maternal and paternal lines) are from Oppland, Buskerud, Hedmark, and Vestfold.  I do most of my research in the Norwegian Digital Archives.  I have found the parish registers and Census records to be most helpful.

I have even taken a trip to Norway where I was able to hold primary source church books and farm registries from the 1600s and beyond with my own two hands!

I visited the Riksarkivet and Statsarkivet for a few fylker and the local Lands museum for my mom's relatives as well as visited some of my cousins who still live in the area.

I am interested in helping out. My ancestry i mostly from Södermanland and Uppland (around Stockholm), but also one big branch in Lindome (south of Gothenburg) as well as some minor branches in other parts. The only non-Swede ancestry I found was Walloon smiths around 1600 in one branch.

However, I have also helped several friends with building their trees, at least to around 1750 or earlier. In general I have an interest in pre-1800 records.

I am willing to contribute what I can, although I have to prioritize may day job which intermittently will take most of my time.

Yes. Before my great grandfather changed his name to Williams, his surname was Webjørnsen which when I was on a tour in Norway was told meant "Son of the Sacred Bear." And since 3/4 of my great grandparents are from Norway and my DNA tests state that I also have Swedish, Danish, and Finnish ancestors, I am very interested in learning more.

Hello!

My grandfather was born in Norway. His family owned a farm in Nord-Trøndelag "county". I am just beginning my research journey (trying to understand the necessary vocabulary, etc.). I am interested in joining the project to sharpen my Norwegian skills.

For many, many years my family was stumped by my grandfather's (whose father emigrated from Sweden) last name not matching what we knew to be his father's last name etc., etc. It was very satisfying to have finally stumbled on upon the word "soldat" in a record and that branch really expanded from there. Our wall was broken! I'd like to contribute to the Sweden part of the Nordic project effort.

I would like to work on the Denmark sub-group at this time. Since 1/4 of my ancestors (at least) came from Denmark, I have done research in the Danish records for over 30 years. I look forward to having time this summer to do more on Wiki-Tree.

Hej! While I am American, I do have a Swedish surname, and can trace my father's family back to southern Sweden, specifically the Malmö and Gothenburg areas. Further, my mother's side of the family is showing Sweden and Denmark (and sometimes Iceland and Norway, depending on the update!), so that's just curiosity.

Thank you for answering the post. Are you interested in joining the Nordic Project? Or would you like help with your research?

I'm currently living in Espoo, Finland but originally from Åland Islands that are a part of Finland. My ancestors has been living out in the archipelago for 100 of eyars with ties to both mainland Finland but also west wards to Åland main island and possibile over to mainland Sweden. In late 19 century and early 20 century some ancestors moved over to Americas, some come back and some stayed.

I'm a 100% ammateure in this but will do my best to help out as much as I can starting with my own entires.

Hi, I would like to join the Nordic project.

Imagine my surprise when all my life I was told I was Irish, English, Scottish, German and when I did my DNA to trace my biological family, Norwegian pops up!! Thanks to my biological grandmother!

Most of my relations are from Oppland and Hedmark, I have some traced back through the early to late 1700s.  I also have some DNA matches from Sweden as well that I haven't been able to tie in yet.  Hopefully I'll connect up to something here.
