why did Spouse link disappear?

I was editing, having just added, a spouse for https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Newton-5745 and when I went back to him 'spouse' had disappeared on his main profile although she is listed at the side, the same applies re. him on her profile, (which I was working on but only adding sources no bio yet) https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Winger-277
How do I put this right? Did I click something without knowing it?

I would be grateful for help. Thanks

Christine

Christine, go back and edit the spouse connection again, and this time untick the "Do Not Display" box.

That is what is causing the spouse to be hidden.

Never seen that "Do not display" box.

No wonder I am wrong.

Thanks for the enlightenment!!
Many thanks Dennis, I guessed I had done something strange without realizing it! I certainly didn't intend to tick 'Do not display' but sure enough it was ticked and everything was immediately restored when I removed the tick.

In the public vew, (which is the vew that we all see), it is standard practice to not have the spouse showing up. That is the way the software works, and I don't believe that can be changed.

Even when I look at my profile in the public vew, my spouse does not show up!!

But when I look on the privacy tab, (or private view) he is right where he should be. But only I can see him.

If you go back to your privacy tab, the spouse will be there but YOU are the only person who can see that.

standard practice??

I don't believe that's true at all.

I've never had any issues with spouses not being visible on any profiles I've created, unless they're still living...

Ah... you're only speaking of the "Public View" Profile tab. I click that one by mistake a lot. But there shouldn't be a problem in the "Private view" of the Profile
It is standard practice for Wikitreers, because we are living.  Certain lock colours will also fall under the no spouse is shown.

The problem in this case was that the "do not display as linked" box was checked.
