F C Pierce Batchelder, Batcheller Genealogy - what's the concensus?

As some work by F C Pierce is 'legendary,' I'm wondering if there are some general opinions on his work Batchelder, Batcheller Genealogy: Descendants of Rev Stephen Bachiler...

In particular on page 91 he gives the apparently undocumented maiden name of Deborah Wing as Bachiler. Did he have any evidence? This would appear to be disproved by Early New England Studies Project Vol I:9-11.

We have some Bachiler descendants following the discussion on the maiden name of Deborah and they have asked about the veracity of Pierce's work on this family.

Anything written by this author should be confirmed elsewhere as he is known to have made up genealogies.
