Richard Logan Walker was born August 8, 1794, a son of William Walker and Martha Logan. According to the Biographical Cyclopedia of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, by John Gresham, 1896, page 32, Richard was a native of Washington county, Kentucky and was educated in the schools of that county.
Richard was a soldier in the War of 1812. After the War, Richard moved to Hartford, Ohio County, Kentucky, where he "engaged in merchandising and farming, shipping the product of his farm and that of others to the Ohio River in wagons and thence by flatboat to the New Orleans market. He was a sheriff of Ohio county from 1820 to 1827, and for one term subsequently. [1]
Richard and his wife, Mahala (Harris) Walker are buried in the Morton Family Plot, in Hartford, Ohio county, Kentucky. [2]
