Biography

George was born in 1874 in State Center, Iowa.

In 1898, George married Ammie Coffin in Belle Plaine. They had at least three children.

From about 1910 to 1919, they lived in Lincoln, Nebraska, where George sold anthracite coal.

In 1919, they moved to Council Bluffs, Iowa.

She passed away in 1939 in Council Bluffs. He passed away in 1942.

Complains of Lumber Rate.

The George W. Voss Lumber company and John W. Byers of the town of Dorchester, have filed a formal complaint against the Burlington, a!leging that this road charges 26 cents per hundred from the south on yellow pine lumber to the town of Crete and charges 31 cents on the same material to Dorchester, which Is 8.3 miles west of Crete. The railway commission has notified the defendant company and it must answer by September 28.

Articles of incorporation of the George W. Voss company were filed with the county clerk this morning, The company will engage In the retail and wholesale lumber, coal and building material business. The capital stock is fixed at $60,000, 65 per cent of it to be paid in. The shares of stock are quoted at $100 an issue of 500 shares has been approved. The incorporators are George W. Voss, Anna Voss and Emma Fayent.
