Edward Starnes was a Mississippian.

Edward Lee Starnes was born on April 26, 1913 in Barlow, Copiah, Mississippi, United States, son of William Austin Starnes (1885–1955) and Ada Minerva Thetford (1889–1989).

In 1920, Edward (7) was living in household of William A Starnes (34) in Barlow, Copiah with his parents, William A (34) and Ada C (30); and his siblings, Austin L (9), Edwin L (6), Robert C (4), and Ade P (1). ^[1]

In 1930, Edward (17) was living in household of William A Starnes (44) in Beat 3, Copiah with his parents, William A (44) and Ada C (41); and his siblings, Austin L (19), Edward L (16), Robert C (14), Ada P (11), Ruth M (8), and Harold T (6). ^[2]

In 1940, Edward (27) was living in household of Austin Starnes (53) in Beat 3, Copiah with his parents, Austin (53) and Ada (50); his siblings, Gee (26), Carlton (23), Ruth M (18), Harral (16), and Edna Earl (9); and Marthy Starnes (76, grandmother). ^[3]
