Goals

The goals of this project are to:

  1. Identify any First Responders who have died in the Line of Duty;
    • Where duplicate profiles exist, merge the profiles into the lowest possible number,
    • Where profiles do not yet exist, add profiles to WikiTree, adhering to the Styles and Standards.
  2. Attach Categories, Templates and/or Stickers to the profiles where applicable;
  3. Document a clean and well-written biography, including sources; and
  4. Attach profiles to the main WikiTree family tree (see the Connectors Project for more information or assistance).

The list of First Responders currently recognized by this project include:

  • EMTs (Emergency Medical Technicians) - This includes all emergency clinicians that are trained to respond to emergency situations, such as Emergency Medical Responders, Primary Care Paramedics, Advanced Care Paramedics or Critical Care Paramedics.[1]
  • Firefighters - This includes both professional and Volunteer positions.[2]
  • Paramedics - See also: EMT[3]
  • Law Enforcement Officers (Police Officer, Peace Officer) - This includes all jobs where the primary duty is the enforcement of laws. Terms may vary from country to country.
  • Rescuers - This includes all jobs where the primary duty involves rescuing someone from harm or danger. These types of jobs often consist of highly trained individuals who are trained in specialty areas, such as technical rescue, diving, or extrication.[4]

To Do List

Here are some of the tasks that I think need to be done. I'll be working on them, and could use your help.

  • Names of the Fallen while on Duty.
  • States and Country

2019 Line of Duty Deaths in the United States per the Officer Down Memorial Page.

THIS is a great page! Love this addition to WikiTree! I will search my trees to add those that are applicable to this Project.

Hi Mary, Abby Glann mentioned that you are working on this project. Thank you so much. It could fit nicely as a sub-project under the Worldwide Disasters project, if you thought that would be good. Worldwide Disasters Project. If so, we'd be delighted to have you involved!
