James Wheeler and Elizabeth Smith were married after banns at St Laurence's, Coombe on 16th September 1826.[1] James was a bachelor from Hanborough whilst Elizabeth was a spinster from Coombe and neither could write as they made their mark on the register with a cross. The witnesses to the marriage were James Noridge and Hannah Wheeler.
