Biography

Gordon was born in 1919.[1] He was the son of Malcolm Scott and Florence Bell. He passed away in 1945.[2] He is memorialised in the Australian War Memorial, Canberra.[3]

On 7 Aug 1940, Gordon enlisted in the Royal Australian Air Force for World War Two.

In 1943, Gordon married Iris May Nosworthy.[5] They had one daughter.

SCOTT-NOSWORTHY.-February 27, 1943, at Presbyterian Church, Crow's Nest, by Rev. C. M. Dyster, Iris May, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. J. Nosworthy, of St. Leonards, to L.A.C. Gordon Malcolm Scott, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. M. Scott, of Brisbane, Queensland.[6]

At the time of his enlistment, George was single and had worked as a mechanic with Townsend & Heaslop, Kingaroy, residing at Haly St., Kingaroy. His mother, Florence, consented to his enlistment. His wife was recorded as Iris May married 27 Feb 1943 and his daughter Lynette May born 15 May 1944. Gordon was on air operations in Liberator A72-66 of No. 82 Wing Detachment Morutai when his plane failed to return from its mission and the crew were presumed dead with effect from 31 Jul 1945.[4]
