Biography

The son of John Scott and Elizabeth (Bradshaw) Scott, William Scott was born in Boone County, Indiana^{[citation needed]} around 1822. He married Martha Edwards (1835-1866), the daughter of Joshua Arthur Edwards and Sarah Smith, marrying in Appanoose County, Iowa on January 1854,^[1] having six known children together:

1. Francis Marion Scott (1855-)
2. Christopher Columbus Scott (1857-1870)
3. James A. Scott (1858-)
4. Mary Jane Scott (1863-)
5. William Eldridge Scott, Jr. (1863-1932)
6. Sarah Alice Scott (1864-1914)

William and his family made their home in Udell Township, Iowa,^[2] later migrating to Missouri and taking up residence in Osage Township, in Morgan County.^[3] William Scott is believed to have passed away in Boone Township, Missouri, sometime after 1870.^{[citation needed]}
