2015 08 01--I awoke thinking of our elopement in 1983 on this date. It was our secret. We had a wedding the following Thanksgiving Day with family. No one knew. We eloped while I was at an education convention in Orlando, FL at the Sheraton Twin Towers, halfway between his job in Gainesville, FL at Publix and my new job teaching agriculture in Lake Placid, FL, with his kids in tow. I had just graduated from the University of Florida College of Agriculture with a bachelor's degree in Agriculture and Extension Education and he said we would wed when I had a contract. A notary public married us then and preacher wed us later. No photos for the day, but great memories.

Taught agriculture and was an FFA Advisor at Lake Placid High School in Highlands County, FL and at Westridge Middle School in Orange County, FL[8]. Math and English at Conway Middle School in Orange County. All grades and subjects in Hospital/Homebound for Orange County Public Schools[9].

She worked in education most of her career, but also in many other areas. She owned two publishing companies. ROC EdTech with colleagues at Nova Southeastern University. Olmstead Publishing LLC was her own.[10]

In Oct 2005, they opened a The UPS Store in Apopka, FL, just prior to Jeffery's death the following February. They joined the Chamber of Commerce Valentine's Day prior and DrO became an integral part of the Apopka community, including being an ambassador for seven years.

Service

She joined and was on boards of many organizations, including the Womans Club, SERTOMA, and the Apopka Historical Society.

Service Heroes

She researched, funded, and developed a program to honor the soldiers, fire, and police personnel who died in service from the community. She was proud of honoring the heroes of who sacrificed their lives. She hopes that other communities repeat this model to teach children and adults about these selfless souls.

Great media coverage was held including radio, television, and newspaper. The heroes were well honored.
