Hi 2 Week Member! How are things going? Any questions? I have a couple of tips that will make things easier for you in the long run. The farther back in your tree, the more likely you will find duplicate profiles to link into, so it's a good idea to do a search before you create a new profile. We also have a naming standard here, see: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Name_Fields If you do have someone where a last name at birth is not known, the information should be noted in the related profiles until you have a last name.

Add an estimated date and place of birth, at the very least, a country (no abbreviations), for each person. This helps in searches. Last but not least, make sure you source each profile as you go. This will save you time later. Let me know if I can help. Nae

Hello David!

Great comment!

I just wanted to take a second to welcome you to the WikiTree family and thank you for volunteering! You're now a confirmed member. There are many great people and resources available here to help you.

If you already have or you are planning to upload a GEDCOM, you might want to check out Before You Import Your GEDCOM.

Keep in mind that our primary vision is to build a collaborative tree with just one profile per person, so please make sure to look for duplicates on WikiTree before adding a profile.

If I can help in any way, I will certainly do my best! Please don't hesitate to ask :)

Happy hunting!

Eowyn ~

I just found out about WikiTree this morning, and would very much like to participate as Wiki Genealogist. I've been seriously researching my family history for three years now, and have slowly grown my tree to just over 1,000 individuals... an average of one addition per day. One obstacle has been navigating multiple, sometimes contradictory on-line genealogical archives. I love the idea of a single, global, well-managed, non-commercial source of information, with the ability to interact with others sharing similar research interests.
