As a child I constantly asked my Grandparents where we came from. The answer from both Grandmothers was "I don't know Honey, we've just always been here..."
100% of my lineage is in Bedford County Virginia around Rev War timeframe. Lots of Endogamy in the chart! AND, lots of research in the effort. I especially love doing VA courthouse research, love the tiny scraps of paper we can handle and the original documents. Signatures of my ancestors I collect, it draws them closer.
As a child our family attended our Mitchell and Martin reunions every year. I love the cemetery at Staunton Baptist Church in Huddleston, VA. I would talk with the WWI vets who had shaking hands, "shell shock" Mom said. My brother and I would go look at the really old stones in the cemetery, glad we did because many are no longer readable. There were 2 out houses and we met in the tiny original chapel which we use to this day for our Martin reunion. Our ancestors Jordan and Keziah Musgrove Martin supplied the land for the church years ago. Their photo hangs in the fellowship hall beside a copy of the original deed which states that if that property is ever not a Baptist church, the property reverts to heirs. We love that church!

Thanks to SJ Baty for the great ancestor statistics chart. Here is the link: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:My_Ancestors_Research_Statistics_template.
PS...I'm working on the endogamy aspect which is HUGE. Beginning at GGG and quite complex.

After reviewing the 2 Profiles it appears that there are discrepancies with birth & death dates & locations. The children also don't match & as do the last names of spouses—however, all the other info matches. Additionally, as noted by Darlene (Scott) Kerr, his mother would only have been 10 YO; couldn't be. Therefore have initiated the merge. Hal
We just started a new project on WikiTree: the Appalachia Project and we would love to have you join us. Since you are already working on profiles in Appalachia it wouldn't add to your WT work. Just a sticker and a category, here and there. To join, review the Project page, pick a regional team (or teams) and answer the G2G Membership post.

Great job sourcing last month! Thanks for all your help, it’s very much appreciated.
As you may have seen, we have been doing some restructuring in the US Southern Colonies Project and are now organising ourselves into different teams. We have also changed the criteria for membership. Please have a look at the new project pages, and let me know whether you would like to remain in the project and, if so, which team(s) you would like to be in.
Please can you also send me your e-mail address. I can then make sure you are introduced to your Team Leaders and are in the Google Group.
Please note that it is a requirement for membership in the US Southern Colonies Project that you respond to these check-ins. We’re really excited for the future of the project and hope that you decide to be a part of it with us moving forwards.
Many thanks,
Susie, US Southern Colonies Project Co-Leader
