Biography

Martha was born on 17 February 1890 in British Columbia,^[1] the daughter of Michael Manson and Jenny Renwick^[2].

Martha Grace Manson was the sixth child and fifth daughter born to Michael & Jane Renwick Manson. At the time of her birth, her father was a merchant and store owner in Nanaimo. He would later become a justice of the peace and a Conservative MLA in the BC Legislature, representing Comox from 1909 to 1916 and Mackenzie from 1924 until his death in 1932. The community of Mansons Landing on Cortes Island was named after him and several of the family's descendants still live on the island.

Unfortunately she died before her first birthday, on 25 Oct 1890 in Nanaimo, British Columbia. She was eight months and eight days old at the time of her death^[3] from Diphtheria. She was buried in Nanaimo Municipal Cemetery.
