Biography

John Manson was born in 1845 at Teddington, Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand. He was the second son (one of 17 children) of Samuel and Jean Manson some of the earliest settlers who arrived in Canterbury, New Zealand in 1843.

John Manson and Jane Reeve married in 1868 in New Zealand.^[1] They had several children.

John's wife Manson died in 1901.

John Manson died in 1931 age 85 at Papanui, Christchurch:^[2][3]

Manson - On May 4, 1931, at 48, Hawthorne Street, Papanui, John Manson, late of Gebbie's valley: in his eighty-sixth year.

His burial location is unknown, although his wife is buried at Teddington Church of the Epiphany. ^[4]

Research Notes

There was another couple John Brown Manson married to Jean Allison living in New Zealand at the same time (see https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/G3P1-W9V). Birth records for their children also show parents as John and Jane Manson so the families can easily be mixed up.
