Thomas was born on 4 Comet Street in Roath, Cardiff, Glamorgan, Wales.
During his life, Thomas served as a soldier, a coal-miner, and as a coal-trimmer on the Docks. His death certificate shows that he suffered from chronic fibrosis of the lungs [Anthracosis] and heart-failure. His Death Certificate gives the name and address of the Informant as :-N.Phillips, daughter, of 41 Layard Street, Cardiff. Can we identify this daughter?
For some reason, as yet unidentified, Thomas appears as a Private [Soldier], aged 19, in Cardiff gaol in the 1881 Census.
On 7 January 1888 he married Julia Mahoney at St. Peters, Cardiff, Glamorgan, Wales.
In the England and Wales Census of 1901, he was age 40, living in Cardiff with his wife Julia A. (age 32), daughter Ellen (age 13), son Thomas P, (age 7), and son Timothy (age 2).
He died at 33 Holmes Street in Barry, Cardiff.
Thomas was buried on 8 Dec 1921 in Merthyr Dyfan Cemetery, Section O, Grave 212. [1]
