Thanks for joining the Germany Project! I've awarded you a project member badge. When you have a chance, please do the following:
1- Read the main Germany Project Page (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Germany) to familiarize yourself with what we do and what is required of project members.
2- Add GERMANY and/or GERMAN_ROOTS to your list of followed G2G tags, so you can follow what the project is working on (see Help:Tags: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Tags#How_to_follow_tags).
3- We built a Free Space Page with all our different means of communication. You can read about them here (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Germany_Project_Communication)
We look forward to working with you! Please feel free to contact me with any questions any time.
Thanks! Jelena Eckstädt, Germany Project Coordinator
I noticed that you are using Ancestry and Geneanet trees as sources for Pre-1700 profiles. Trees from sites like these are not acceptable to use as sources for Pre-1700 profiles. You can use the link that Erin left below to the Pre-1700 Profiles page and review the guidelines.
The G2G forum is also a great place to ask for help or advice.
Thanks! John
I'm a newbie here, and to be honest, I find all of the information more than a little overwhelming., like drinking from a fire hose The Ancestry links I used are links to actual records, i.e. images of actual church records. I don't know how to display them on WikiTree in any other way. I know that Geneanet sources are not reliable, so that one must have slipped through with my GEDCOM download. I do add them to my Ancestry records if the information has been verified elsewhere.
Thanks for your comment.
Bonnie
Your other sources are ok, the trees are what get noticed with the Pre-1700 profiles. GEDCOMs can be a pain because they can bring over a bunch of useless info that has to be cleaned up. Keep an eye out for trees and you should be fine. WT can seem a bit overwhelming at first, but once your "Aha!" moment hits, you'll be clicking along with few problems.
Good luck! john
Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.
Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.
