Biography
Willis Harris was born on 19 Nov 1825 in Warren County, North Carolina. He was the son of Joseph Harris and Nancy Harris. On 13 Dec 1854 Willis married Harriet Newman in Lee County, Virginia. Between 1850 and 1875 Harriet gave birth to their nine children. The 1860 census[1] shows Willis raising his family in Carter, Kentucky where he is farming.

Harriet died in 1894. Willis Harris passed away on 16 Feb 1899 in Bell County, Texas. He is buried[2] at Greathouse Cemetery, Temple, Bell County, Texas next to Harriet.
