Biography

Lee Jasper Harris was born 17 September 1896 in Swainsboro, Emanuel County, Georgia, son of [[Harris-19382|Drew Harris and Lula Murphy Harris[1].

He registered for the draft for World War I, naming farming as his occupation and was described as being medium of height and build with light blue eyes and light brown hair[2].

He was drafted into the US Army for World War I, beginning 24 July 1918[3].

He died 1 October 1918, at Infantry Camp Gordon[4][5], in preparation for deployment for World War I, and is buried in Cypress Hills National Cemetery, Brooklyn, Kings County, New York, Plot: 7946[1]. His cousin Walter Harris was at the same camp and died from influenza the same day.
