Biography

Birth

Martha Hall was born on 14 June 1755 in Mansfield, Windham (later Tolland), Connecticut to Nathaniel Hall (1724-1810) and Martha Sophia Storrs (1728-1808).[1]

Siblings

All children were born in Mansfield, Windham (later Tolland), Connecticut.
  1. Nathaniel Hall Jr., Capt. was born on 3 August 1746. He married Mehitable Storrs (1745-1830) on 18 February 1768. Nathaniel died on 2 February 1821 in Lebanon, Grafton, New Hampshire, United States.
  2. Deborah Hall was born on 5 June 1748. She married Josiah Warner (1745-1830) before 1768. Deborah died on 26 March 1844 in Amherst, Hampshire, Massachusetts, United States.
  3. Ruth Hall was born on 27 March 1751. She married Nathaniel Storrs (1747-1813) before 1772. Ruth died on 3 April 1832 in Lebanon, Grafton, New Hampshire, United States.
  4. Olive Hall was born on 25 June 1753. She married 1) Shepherd Stearns (1750-1776) on 12 January 1775 in Mansfield, Connecticut and 2) Nathaniel Porter (1748-1831) on 20 September 1781 in Mansfield, Connecticut. [2] [3] Olive died on 23 February 1833 in Lebanon, Grafton, New Hampshire, United States.
  5. Andrew Hall was born on 9 February 1758.
  6. Azariah Hall was born on 1 December 1760. He died on 19 December 1760 in Mansfield, Connecticut.
  7. Richard Hall was born on 21 April 1762. He married Alice (Arnold) Hall (1762-1839) on 2 October 1781. Deacon Richard Hall died on 15 November 1843 in Middlebury, Addison, Vermont, United States.
  8. Aaron Hall was born on 22 August 1764. He married Zerviah Slate (1761-1826) on 23 October 1783 in Mansfield, Connecticut. Aaron died in 1824 in Savannah, Wayne, New York, United States.
  9. Asahel Hall was born on 20 August 1766. He died at his brother Richard's home in New Haven, Addison, Vermont, United States on 27 March 1813. Buried 31 March 1813.
  10. Mary Hall was born on 3 January 1769. She married Eleazer Barrows (1763-1847) on 1 April 1789 in Connecticut. Mary died on 19 June 1840 in Vermont, United States.

Marriage and Family

She married Thomas Barrows Jr. (1750-1844) May 9, 1776 in Mansfield, Windham (now Tolland) County, Connecticut.[4] Her husband was a private for Connecticut. He was living at Mansfield, Connecticut when called into service during the Revolutionary War.[5]

Children of the Barrows-Hall Marriage

All children were born in Mansfield, Windham (later Tolland), Connecticut. [6]
  1. Ruth Barrows was born about 1775. She married Caleb Freeman of Orford, New Hampshire as his second wife. Ruth died on 17 October 1867 in Lebanon, Grafton, New Hampshire, United States.
  2. Abigail Barrows was born on 8 April 1779. She married Mr. Dickinson before 1801. Abigail died on 8 July 1860 in North Hadley, Hampshire, Massachusetts, United States.
  3. Andrew Barrows was born on 31 December 1780. He married Polly (Cummings) Barrows (1790-1862), daughter of William Cummings (1761-1840) and Rhoda (Barrows) Cummings (1764-1847), on 30 August 1809 in Mansfield, Connecticut. Andrew died in 1865 in Barton, Tioga, New York, United States.
  4. Samuel Storrs Barrows was born on 2 August 1783. He married Belinda Lull (1791-1883 about 1811. Samuel died on 5 November 1875 in Lebanon, Grafton, New Hampshire, United States.
  5. Shepherd Barrows was born on 14 August 1786. He married 1) Olive Storrs (1791-1848) on 23 December 1811 in Mansfield, Connecticut and 2) Anna W. Unknown (1797-1868) after 17 September 1850.[7] Shepherd died on 17 October 1867 in Columbus, Chenango, New York, United States.
  6. Silas Barrows was born on 25 November 1787. He married Betsey Greenough (1802-1880) about 1821. Silas died in 1875 in Lebanon, Grafton, New Hampshire, United States.
  7. Martha Barrows was born on 15 May 1790.
  8. Thomas Barrows was born on 28 March 1792.
  9. Patty Barrows was born on 8 January 1795. She married Ira Hawley (1792-1852), son of Zachariah Hawley (1753-1824), before 1812. Patty died on 9 May 1882 in Wisconsin, United States.

Death and Burial

Martha died on 23 December 1819 in Lebanon, Grafton, New Hampshire, United States at the age of 64.[8] She was buried in the School Street Cemetery in Lebanon, Grafton, New Hampshire.[9]
