22 Aug 1931 Christ Church Cathedral, Victoria, British Columbia, Canada by Licence. George Gray Bachelor, age 36, a Service Station Operator, resident of Sidney B.C. born East Norton, England son of John Gray and Miriam Gray (formerly Siddons). Neva Elizabeth Tetlow Spinster, age 30 a Stenographer resident of of Cadboro Bay, Victoria B.C., born in Russia, daughter of Harry Tetlow and Jean Tetlow (formerly Armstrong). Witnesses Charles Gordon Stuart and Jane Gordon Stuart of Cadboro Bay, Victoria B.C.
The story of their courtship is: At no time did his (i.e George Graydetermination shine more brightly than when he met a young girl Neva Stewart of Cadboro Bay. So enthralled was he with this young woman that he courted her for ten years - each weekend sailing sailing a handmde cedar rowboat from Steveston on the mainland, to her home in Cadboro Bay on the southern tip of Vancouver Island (in later years after the pair were wed, Gray gave up his life as a fisherman because his new bride objected to the amount of time a fisherman spent away from his family.
The Gray family evidently knew her as Neva Stewart, but her maiden name is entered as Neva Elizabeth Tetlow in the marriage and death records. However the witnesses at the wedding were Charles and Jane Gordon Stuart, so it is possible that they adopted or fostered Neva who regarded herself as a Stewart.

Comox District Free Press - ROWBOAT ROMANCE. George Gray had an unpretentious air about him ever since ha was a teenager growing up on a horse farm in England. His demeanor did not change when he moved to Steveston B.C. and became a marine engineer and a fisherman. At the time Gray was six feet tall, had red hair and wore wire-rimmed glasses. He tried hard to be Canadian, fitting in to the community in the early 1920's and striving to enunciate "like a Canadian". Steveston, British Columbia, Canada.
