James Gray was born in Scotland.

James Gray was born in Cathcart, Scotland on 9 June 1827 to parents James Gray & Jean Pattison.[1]

James Gray married Jean Scott in Glasgow, Scotland on 27 May 1852.[2]

They immigrated to Victoria, Australia about 1852/3

They had the following children:

  1. Jane Gray, born on on 12 January 1854 at Campbells Creek, Victoria[3]
  2. Isabella Gray, born 1855 at Campbells Creek,[4]
  3. Janet Gray, born 1857 at Campbells Creek, died 28 July 1870[5]
  4. Sarah Gray, born 1858 at Campbells Creek[6]
  5. James Gray, born 1859 at Campbells Creek[7]
  6. John Gray, born 1861 at Sutton Grange[8]
  7. William Gray, born 1863 at Sutton Grange[9]
  8. Robert Gray, born 1865 at Sutton Grange[10]
  9. Charles Gray, born 1867 at Sutton Grange,[11] died 18 July 1870[5]
  10. Janet Gray, born 1872 at Sutton Grange,[12]

James was a farmer around Kyneton / Sutton Grange.

On 27 May 1902 James & Jane celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at Sutton Grange, Victoria.[13][14]

James died at Sutton Grange on 27 September 1912, aged 85,[15] and he was buried at Sutton Grange Cemetery.[16][5][17]
