Elizabeth was born about 1813 in Ireland, based on census dates. She was the adopted daughter of James Geary (variously given as Geery, Gary, or Geary). See Research Notes below.[1]
Thomas E Thompson married Elizabeth Geary, date uncertain. Their eldest known son is John W Thompson, b. 1832, so a marriage date between an 1828 arrival and the 1830 census seems likely, but not proven.

“There are at least two stories about Elizabeth Gary (Geary).
(1) Mabel Knight said that when Thomas Thompson arrived here, he worked for Elizabeth Gary’s father, James, and ended up marrying her and buying the farm. There is a warranty deed dated 11/1/37 which assigns that land to Henry Van Rensselaer and his wife Elizabeth. The 50.27 acres was conveyed to James Gary 2/1845 and recorded 3/7/1845. Sept 1 1857 (1859?) it was deeded to John W Thompson, then later to Jim and Celius, and in 1943 to Mabel Knight. ...
...(2) Elaine Craig says “His (Thomas Thompson’s) first wife gave birth to twins on the journey over here (from Ireland) and she and the babies were “buried” at sea. Thomas later married his [James Geary] adopted daughter who had also made the journey with them, Elizabeth Geary...”[7]
