Benjamin Jackson "Jack" Garrison was born in 1817 in York County, South Carolina.[1] He was the son of William F. Garrison and Polly Hall.[2][3][4] The William Garrison family was enumerated in York County, South Carolina as late as 1840.[5]
Benjamin Jackson Garrison signed legal documents such as deeds and his father's estate distribution as "B J Garrison."[6]

Benjamin J Garrison owned a farm in Carroll County, Georgia.[7] It was right next door to his father's farm.[8][9]
Benjamin J Garrison was married twice. His first marriage was to a cousin, Mary Garrison.[10] Mary Ann Garrison and Benjamin Jackson Garrison were the parents of the following known children:
Benjamin J Garrison's first wife died circa 1854, leaving him a widower with four young children.
Benjamin J Garrison was second married to Sarah Chambers, the widow of James Eldsberry, in 1854.[15] Sarah had two marriages previous to her marriage to Benjamin Jackson Garrison.[16] Neither of her first two marriages produced children.

The Civil War was raging during Benjamin Jackson Garrison's lifetime. Benjamin was certainly a Confederate soldier. Benjamin Jackson Garrison was listed in a Civil War document in 1864.[23] At that time, he was "aged 46 years and 10 months." His occupation was farmer and he was also cited as being born in South Carolina.[24]This was a special list of men who were committed to the Confederate cause, but were serving as a home-based militia to defend the Confederate state of Georgia during the Civil War.
In 1867, Benjamin J Garrison appears on a Carroll County, Georgia list of registered voters. He was voter number 41.[25]
After the Civil War, Benjamin J Garrison and his family remained in Carroll County, Georgia, at least until after the Census of 1880.[26]
Benjamin Jackson Garrison and his wife Sarah moved to Cullman County, Alabama before the 1900 Census.[27]
Benjamin Jackson Garrison died in Cullman County, Alabama in 1904.[28][29] Here is his Obituary from the Cullman Tribune:
