A pretty wedding of local interest was solemnised in the Baptist Church , at Oakland on Wednesday last. The contracting parties were Agnes Jane, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs E. J. Smith, of Oakland and Laban Arthur, fourth son of Mr. L. A. Ellem of Grafton. The marriage was the first celebrated in the Oakland Church;, The bride was attired in a rich white figured silk voile, trimmed with overall silk laceand Russian braid. She was attended by Miss Emma White, chief brides maid, and Miss Fanny Smith (sister). Mr. T. A. Smith officiated as best man and Mr. C.H. Smith as groomsman. The happy couple left amid the best wishes of their friends and relations for their new home in Casino.[2]
