Ann Cooper was born in Shoreditch, London, England on January 31,1772. She was the daughter of Thomas and Margaret Cooper. This is vital in confirming that Joseph's mother's name was Ann. Confirmation of Ann entered into a marriage bond with Thomas Rickards (sometimes written Richards) on January 29, 1793^[2] and the next day, January 30, 1793, they were married by licence at Christ Church Spitalfields.^[3]

Research Note
In his will Ann's son Joseph wrote 'To my mother Ann Rickards the annual sum of twenty five ?...' The will is in the images on Joseph's profile page, and although it is difficult to read this is confirmation that his mother's name was Ann.
